U.S. Department of the Treasury: Treasury Department Fraud and Identity Theft Prevention PSA

In recent months, there has been an increase in news coverage about scammers who increasingly persuade seniors and other vulnerable individuals to provide their personal information, such as their Social Security and bank account numbers, in response to phone solicitations. The U.S. Department of the Treasury, in partnership with the Social Security Administration and Department of Veterans Affairs, has created 30-second and 60-second PSAs to help educate the public on how to avoid becoming a victim of identity theft and/or fraud.
Your station can help people protect themselves against financial crimes by including one of the new public service announcements (PSAs) in your public service programming. These anti-fraud PSAs are directed at senior citizens but are applicable to anyone who might be easily persuaded to give out personal information to a scammer.
